A Costs Draftsman since 1983, Russell has extentive experience and expertise in dealing with all aspect of legal costing, now specialising in Civil Litigation costing and negotiation. Russell is a qualified Costs Lawyer with consequent rights of audience. Russell sits as a Magistrate in Pontefract and Wakefield.
Marinus has been a Costs draftsman for 35 years qualifying as a Costs Lawyer in 2010. He has gained extensive experience over the years in all aspects of costs mainly in London and South East, until he moved to West Yorkshire in 2001. His more recent experience in Yorkshire and the North is over a broad spectrum to include:
Commercial, Company & Civil Litigation;
Claimant & defendant PI (mainly multi track) including representing local authorities;
Landlord & Tenant;
Intellectual Property;
Acting for Police forces in respect of actions brought against them;
Insolvency;
Neighbour disputes;
Arbitrations;
Land Registry adjudications;
Agricultures holdings and rent review tribunals;
Public Law & Administrative Court;
Advocacy in County Courts before Regional Cost Judges and District Judges, in the SCCO and has rights of audience in costs law at all levels up to High Court, Privy Council & Supreme Court in first instance.
Occasional High Costs Case plans in Legally aided civil and care cases;
Detailed assessment procedure to include preparation of points of dispute and replies, all other associated aspects;
He is also an ALCD accreditated training provider and conducts seminars in house.
He is married and has 3 sons, one still at home. In his spare time he is heavily involved as a minsiter in his church; enjoys travelling, particuliarly Scotland and the East Coast
